Anti-CD31 antibodies are available for the flow cytometric detection of the target protein, 'platelet and endothelial cell adhesion molecule 1'. In humans, this target is encoded by the CD31 gene, corresponding to a protein 738 amino acids in length and a mass of 82.5 kDa. Synonyms for this protein include GPIIA', PECA1, PECAM-1, and endoCAM. CD31 orthologs have been reported in the following species: mouse, rat, bovine, canine, chicken, chimpanzee, frog, guinea pig, horse, porcine, rabbit, rhesus monkey, sheep. CD31 antibodies can serve as useful tools for identifying populations of immune cells, such as macrophages, T cells, and neutrophils, by flow cytometry.
