Anti-CIP1 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CIP1 is a known alias name of the protein cyclin dependent kinase inhibitor 1A, encoded by the CDKN1A gene in humans. This 164-amino acid residue protein is suspected to be involved in p53/TP53 mediated inhibition of cellular proliferation in response to DNA damage. It is localized to the nucleus and cytoplasm of the cell and features ubiquitinated, acetylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is reported to be expressed in all adult tissues, with 5-fold lower levels observed in the brain.
