Anti-ACS antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the ACS antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the PLA2G15 gene, which encodes phospholipase A2 group XV. This protein is known to function in the metabolism of lipids, among other biological roles. The human version of ACS has a canonical amino acid length of 412 residues and a protein mass of 46.7 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the lysosomes, membrane, and is secreted of cells and widely expressed in many tissue types. ACS is a member of the Lipase protein family.
