Anti-Galectin 3 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene LGALS3 in humans. The Galectin 3 protein has a reported amino acid length of 250 and an expected mass of 26.2 kDa. The protein may also be known as lectin, galactoside binding soluble 3, CBP 35, MAC2, GAL3, 35 kDa lectin, and CBP35. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
