Anti-Voltage dependent anion channel 1 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene VDAC1 in humans. The gene may also be known as porin, VDAC-1, voltage-dependent anion-selective channel protein 1, and outer mitochondrial membrane protein porin 1. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 30.8 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, plant, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
