Anti-MDM2 proto-oncogene antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MDM2 in humans. The gene may also be known as Hdm2, ACTFS, HDMX, E3 ubiquitin-protein ligase Mdm2, and MDM2 oncogene, E3 ubiquitin protein ligase. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 55.2 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
