Anti-Interleukin 22 antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the IL22 gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 179 amino acid residues and a mass of 20 kDa. It is known to be a secreted protein. A member of the IL-10 protein family, it is known to be a cytokine that plays a critical role in modulating tissue responses during inflammation. Post-translational modifications have been described, including glycosylation. Other names for this target antigen include IL-D110, IL-TIF, ILTIF, TIFIL-23, TIFa, zcyto18, IL-10-related T-cell-derived inducible factor, and IL-21. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, chimpanzee and chicken species.
