Anti-Fas antibodies are used in immunodetection applications like flow cytometry, immunofluorescence, and western blot for the measurement of protein encoded by the gene, Fas cell surface death receptor (FAS) in humans. The canonical Fas protein is 335 amino acids in length, 37.7 kDa in mass, and has a secreted and membrane subcellular localization. Fas plays a role in the activation-induced cell death of T cells and activation of cysteine-type endopeptidase activity involved in the apoptotic process. Tissue-specific expression of Fas has been observed in several tissues, including blood. Post-translational modifications have been described, notably glycosylation and palmitoylation. Synonyms for this protein include: ALPS1A; APO-1; APT1; CD95; FAS1; FASTM; TNFRSF6; tumor necrosis factor receptor superfamily member 6. Orthologs for FAS have also been reported in other species, including mice, rats, bovines, frogs, chimpanzees and chicken. Compare Fas antibodies from different suppliers below.
