Anti-LC3B antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target LC3B is a known alias name of the protein microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 beta, encoded by the MAP1LC3B gene in humans. This 125-amino acid residue protein is known to be a ubiquitin-like modifier involved in formation of autophagosomal vacuoles (autophagosomes). It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles, mitochondria, and cytoplasm of the cell and features cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the heart, brain, skeletal muscle and testis.
