Anti-Proprotein convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene PCSK9 in humans. The gene may also be known as FH3, FHCL3, HCHOLA3, LDLCQ1, convertase subtilisin/kexin type 9 preproprotein, and neural apoptosis regulated convertase 1. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 74.3 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
