Anti-CD106 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CD106 is a known alias name of the protein vascular cell adhesion molecule 1, encoded by the VCAM1 gene in humans. This 739-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in pathways of aging and B cell differentiation, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cell membrane and is secreted of the cell and features glycosylated, ubiquitinated and cleaved post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is noted to be expressed on inflamed vascular endothelium, as well as on macrophage-like and dendritic cell types in both normal and inflamed tissue. The CD106 marker has been identified in populations of Parietal Epithelial Cells, Descending Thin Limb Cells, and Follicular Dendritic Cells.* The term INCAM-100 is another synonym for CD106.
