Anti-KRT3 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein keratin 3. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 628 amino acid residues and a mass of 64.4 kDa. It is reported to have cornea specific expression. A member of the Intermediate filament protein family, KRT3 is known to be involved with epithelial cell differentiation and cytoskeleton organization. The KRT3 gene has been associated with the disease, Corneal dystrophy. Synonyms for this target antigen include K3, MECD2, keratin, type II cytoskeletal 3, 65 kDa cytokeratin, CK-3, cytokeratin 3, keratin 3, type II, and CK3. KRT3 gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat and bovine species. Over 410 citations in the literature describe the use of KRT3 antibodies in research. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. In addition, Immunohistochemistry is also a common application.
