Anti-Cytochrome C antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target Cytochrome C is a known alias name of the protein cytochrome c, somatic, encoded by the CYCS gene in humans. This 105-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the apoptotic pathway, among other biological processes. It is localized to the mitochondria of the cell and features phosphorylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for Cytochrome C include CYC, HCS, and THC4.
