Anti-Dynamin 1-like antibodies are used for the immunodetection of the protein encoded by the DNM1L gene. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 736 amino acid residues and a mass of 81.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the membrane, cytoplasmic vesicles, mitochondria, Golgi, and cytoplasm. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 9 different isoforms for this protein. It is widely expressed across many tissue types. A member of the Dynamin/Fzo/YdjA protein family, it is reported to function in mitochondrial and peroxisomal division. Other names for this target antigen include DRP1, DVLP, DYMPLE, EMPF, EMPF1, HDYNIV, OPA5, and DLP1. Gene orthologs have been identified in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog, zebrafish, chimpanzee and chicken species.
