Anti-LC3A antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target LC3A is a known alias name of the protein microtubule associated protein 1 light chain 3 alpha, encoded by the MAP1LC3A gene in humans. This 121-amino acid residue protein is known to be a ubiquitin-like modifier involved in formation of autophagosomal vacuoles (autophagosomes). It is localized to the cytoplasmic vesicles and cytoplasm of the cell and features cleaved and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is notably expressed in the heart, brain, liver, skeletal muscle and testis but absent in thymus and peripheral blood leukocytes. Western Blot is the most common application for the LC3A antibodies listed below. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
