Anti-eif2alpha antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target eif2alpha is a known alias name of the protein eukaryotic translation initiation factor 2 subunit alpha, encoded by the EIF2S1 gene in humans. This 315-amino acid residue protein is reported to function in the early steps of protein synthesis by forming a ternary complex with GTP and initiator tRNA. It is localized to the cytoplasm of the cell and features phosphorylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be widely expressed in many tissue types. Other synonyms for eif2alpha include EIF-2, EIF-2A, and EIF-2alpha. A number of eif2alpha antibodies have been mentioned in research publications and have associated citations. Western Blot is a widely used application for these antibodies. ELISA, Immunofluorescence, and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
