Electroporation / Transfection Instruments

Electroporation / Transfection Instruments Electroporation and transfection instruments enable the introduction of exogenous nucleic acids or other molecules into cells. Electroporation systems, sometimes called electroporators, send out brief electric pulses to disrupt plasma membranes and allow entry of DNA or RNA. These instruments are designed for a broad spectrum of eukaryotic and prokaryotic cell types, including microbial, plant, primary cells, and stem cells. Electroporation instruments maintain consistent and optimal pulse and field strength in order to permit rapid transfection while minimizing cell mortality. Other transfection systems may use other methods, such as particle-based delivery using gold beads. Electroporation and transfection instruments can be useful tools in gene expression studies, protein expression, RNA interference, cell line generation, and CRISPR gene editing.
