OPG ELISA kits are assays designed to detect osteoprotegerin, a soluble member of the TNF family. It is a protein produced by osteoblasts and marrow stromal cells. It acts as a decoy receptor for receptor activator of nuclear factor-kappa B ligand (RANKL) and osteoclast differentiation factor, inhibiting the function and differentiation of osteoclasts. It can reduce apoptosis of cells by binding to TNF-related apoptosis-inducing ligand (TRAIL). It has been associated with osteoporosis, celiac disease, myelomas and Paget’s disease. Visit the supplier page for more information about detection range and reactivity.
