Anti-RNA binding protein, mRNA processing factor antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene RBPMS in humans. The gene may also be known as HERMES, RNA-binding protein with multiple splicing, and RNA binding protein with multiple splicing. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 21.8 kilodaltons in mass. The RBPMS marker can be used to identify Retinal Ganglion Cells.* Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
