Anti-CD271 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CD271 is a known alias name of the protein nerve growth factor receptor, encoded by the NGFR gene in humans. This 427-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in the apoptotic pathway and axon guidance, among other biological processes. It is localized to the cell membrane of the cell and features O-glycosylated and phosphorylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the colon and testis. The CD271 marker has been identified in populations of Respiratory Suprabasal Cells, Tracheobronchial Tree Basal Epithelial Cells, Airway Submucosal Gland Duct Basal Cells, Epithelium Lobular Bronchiole Basal Cells, and Epithelium Terminal Bronchiole Basal Cells.* The term Gp80-LNGFR is another synonym for CD271.
