Anti-CD54 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CD54 is a known alias name of the protein intercellular adhesion molecule 1, encoded by the ICAM1 gene in humans. This 532-amino acid residue protein is known to be involved in cell adhesion and the regulation of apoptosis, among other biological processes. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features ubiquitinated and glycosylated post-translational modifications. It is reported to be expressed in many tissues, such as the colon and endometrium. The CD54 marker has been identified in populations of Blood Vessel Endothelial Cells.* Other synonyms for CD54 include BB2 and P3.58.
