Porin, or Voltage-dependent anion channel 1, is a human gene encoded by VDAC1. It may also be known as: Voltage-dependent anion-selective channel protein 1; Outer mitochondrial membrane protein porin 1; Plasmalemmal porin; Porin 31HL; Porin 31HM; VDAC-1; hVDAC1; PORIN. The encoded protein has an amino acid length of 283 and a mass of 30.8 kDa. Other isoforms may exist. Porin is a member of the Eukaryotic mitochondrial porin family. Homologs of this gene exist in other organisms, including: Mouse, Rat, Arabidopsis, Zebrafish, Frog, Chicken.
