Anti-BMAL1 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein basic helix-loop-helix ARNT like 1. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 626 amino acid residues and a mass of 68.8 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm. Up to 9 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. It is notably widely expressed in many tissue types. BMAL1 is reported to be a transcriptional activator, which forms a core component of the circadian clock. Post-translational modifications have been described, including O-glycosylation, ubiquitination, sumoylation, acetylation and phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include ARNTL1, BMAL1c, JAP3, MOP3, PASD3, TIC, bHLHe5, and ARNTL.
