Anti-Myelin basic protein antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene MBP in humans. The myelin basic protein protein has an expected mass of 33.1 kDa, but there are 6 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as golli-mbp, proline-rich proteoglycan 2, and myelin A1 protein. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
