Anti-TOMM20 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein translocase of outer mitochondrial membrane 20. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 145 amino acid residues and a mass of 16.3 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the mitochondria. A member of a the Tom20 protein family, TOMM20 is reported to be a central component of the receptor complex responsible for the recognition and translocation of cytosolically synthesized mitochondrial preproteins. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination. Synonyms for this target antigen include MOM19, TOM20, mitochondrial import receptor subunit TOM20 homolog, mitochondrial 20 kDa outer membrane protein, and MAS20.
