Anti-Fragile X mental retardation 1 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene FMR1 in humans. The gene may also be known as FMRP, FRAXA, POF, POF1, synaptic functional regulator FMR1, and fragile X mental retardation protein 1. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 71.2 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
