Anti-CD170 antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target CD170 is a known alias name of the protein sialic acid binding Ig like lectin 5, encoded by the SIGLEC5 gene in humans. This 551-amino acid residue protein is believed to be an adhesion molecule that mediates sialic-acid dependent binding to cells. It is localized to the membrane of the cell and features glycosylated post-translational modifications. In terms of tissue expression, it is noted to be expressed by monocytic/myeloid lineage cells. Western Blot is the most common application for the CD170 antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
