Company:

ThermoFisher Scientific

Product Name:

Tetramethylrhodamine, Methyl Ester, Perchlorate (TMRM)

Catalog Number:

T668

TMRM is a cell-permeant, cationic, red fluorescent dye that is readily sequestered by active mitochondria and can be detected by either microscopy or flow cytometry. If the mitochondria membrane potential is perturbed the fluorescence intensity of TMRM decreases.

Experimental Design and Results Summary

Application

Flow cytometry

Starting Material

Neuro2a cells

Tips

Optimize the concentration of TMRM according to cell type.

Results Summary

TMRM dye was used to confirm loss of mitochondria membrane potential due to CCCP. Mitotracker Green that stains mitochondria irrespective of membrane potential was used as a control. Fluorescent cells were analysed using flow cytometry.
