We used Mitotracker Red CMXRos to stain mitochondria in fixed cells and perform confocal microscopy.

Acetone:methanol (1:1) fixation gives better resolution of mitochondrial morphology.
The images shows mitochondrial morphology in Neuro2a cells. Nucleus is stained by DAPI (blue). Digitally zoomed section is shown as inset.
