CD117 is an immaturity marker seen on myeloid progenitors. It is very useful in the identification of acute myeloid leukemia cells. Typically, it is not a bright marker on these cells. Mast cells express CD117 brightly. We wanted a CD117 antibody that would work on both these cell types.

Results Summary

The results we got are good! The antibody stains the cells of interest specifically, and at a reasonable fluorochrome intensity. In the example I show, the CD117+ cells (in red) are myeloid cells from a patient with acute myeloid leukemia (AML). The staining intensity is good enough to resolve these cells from the negative population.

The Bottom Line

This is a good antibody that is easy to optimize and works well for most settings, including dim CD117 and bright CD117 (Mast cells).
