This is an excellent antibody for detection of the STAT3 protein. We used CRISPR-Cas9 to knockout a JAK protein that is upstream of STAT3. We then wanted to determine whether there was a decrease in total STAT3 protein in the JAK1 knockout (KO) cells. We did not see any change in total STAT3 protein. The antibody gave robust signal without any non-specific bands in the cell line tested.

Results Summary

We did not see any change in total STAT3 protein levels when we knocked out an upstream JAK protein. The STAT3 bands were very clear in the expected size range with no non-specific bands.

Summary

The Good

This antibody gives robust signal on western blots! It only took a 10 seconds of film exposure for the band to appear.

The Bad

If anything, the signal is so robust that it can become overexposed when using film.
