Tips

You can see the profile plot of the band by clicking the Profiles tab on the far right edge of the main window. This is a representation of the signal in the shape you created going from left to right as well as up to down. Image Studio suggests that the ticks should be on the lowest part of the peaks to ensure your shape captures the entire signal of the band. The manual is also very user friendly and has pictures. EASY to read.

Summary

The Good

Opening this program for the first time seems intimidating but it is very user friendly and well made. The manual is extremely helpful when learning how to use the software and correctly analyze blots.

The Bad

Images that are saved in Image Studio on one computer will not be on another computer with Image Studio. Must export images and re-open.

The Bottom Line

LI-COR Biosciences Image studio is simple yet effective. The program is easy to work with and generates valuable and consistent densitometry data that can be used in publications.
