Cell Culture Reagents

Cell Culture Reagents
Biological systems are inherently complex, and consequently, so are the components of the culture media required to grow cells outside of their natural environments. Healthy in vitro growth of cells involves physiological replication of natural chemical and physical properties, including pH range, consistency of solid or liquid media, salt concentration, and the availability of key nutrients. Common nutrients include glucose, amino acids, vitamins, and proteins. A variety of other reagents are also frequently used in cell culture. Serums, such as fetal bovine serum, contain a rich mix of proteins widely used to supplement the growth of mammalian cells. To prevent contamination of unwanted microorganisms, antibiotics, antimycotics, and mycoplasma testing and elimination kits should also be considered. Phenol Red, an indicator dye, is commonly added to media to track the pH of growing cultures. Browse through our catalog of assorted cell culture reagents from different manufacturers.
