T4 DNA Ligases

T4 DNA Ligases T4 DNA ligases catalyze the formation of a phosphodiester bond between the 5'-phosphate and 3'-hydroxyl termini in duplex DNA or RNA. This ligase originates from the T4 bacteriophage and is one of the most commonly used ligases due to its efficiency. It can join DNA fragments with either cohesive or blunt termini, but it has no activity on single-stranded nucleic acids. It can aid in the repair of nicks in single strands of duplex DNA, RNA, or hybrids of the two. The enzyme requires ATP as an essential co-factor for its function. It can be useful for site-directed mutagenesis, self-circularization of linear DNA, and cloning of PCR products. Visit the supplier page for more information.
