Mammalian cell growth media often requires supplementation by animal-based serum, such as fetal bovine serum. However, reagents derived from animal serum pose a risk of being contaminated with pathogens, viruses, or other undesired foreign agents. Chemically defined (CD) media, supplements, and reagents are free of animal-based components, allowing robust cell growth from known media components. CD media can offer increased safety and satisfy regulatory requirements in biopharmaceutical applications. Visit the reagent supplier pages for more information.
