SARS-CoV-2 infects human cells by binding to the human ACE2 receptor. More specifically, the SARS-CoV-2 Spike protein on the surface of the viral particle binds, via its receptor binding domain (RBD), to ACE2. RayBiotech's Spike-ACE2 binding assays characterize the interaction between the Spike RBD and ACE2 extracellular domain.
