Caspase-7 is a cysteine protease known for its role in inflammation and as an executioner of apoptosis. Capsase-7 inhibitors are sought for their potential role in a number of cancers, inflammatory disorders, and ischemia. A number of peptide-based inhibitors are known to target caspase-7. As with caspase-3, IAP peptide inhibitors are the most well-known.
