COLEC7 is an alias of the human SFTPD gene, which encodes the protein, surfactant protein D. Notably, COLEC7 is known to play a role in innate immune responses and lung development, among other functions. The SFTPD protein is described to be 375 amino acid residues in length and 37.7 kilodaltons in mass. Its subcellular localization is in the extracellular matrix and is secreted. In terms of tissue specificity, it is reported to be expressed in the lung, brain, pancreas and adipose tissue (mainly mature adipocytes). This protein is known to be glycosylated.
