Anti-UBE2U antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 U. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 321 amino acid residues and a mass of 37.7 kDa. Up to 2 different isoforms have been reported for this protein. A member of the Ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme protein family, UBE2U is known to catalyze the covalent attachment of ubiquitin to other proteins. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination. Synonyms for this target antigen include testicular tissue protein Li 216, ubiquitin carrier protein U, ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2 U (putative), ubiquitin conjugating enzyme E2U (putative), and E2 ubiquitin-conjugating enzyme U. UBE2U gene orthologs have been reported in the mouse, rat, bovine, frog and chimpanzee species. Western Blot is the most common application for the UBE2U antibodies listed below. ELISA and Immunohistochemistry are also common applications.
