Anti-LGMD2A antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the LGMD2A antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the CAPN3 gene, which encodes calpain 3. This protein is known to function in the apoptotic pathway and muscle organ development, among other biological roles. The human version of LGMD2A has a canonical amino acid length of 821 residues and a protein mass of 94.3 kilodaltons, although 5 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the nucleus and cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the skeletal muscle. Other names for this target antigen include CANP3, CANPL3, and LGMD2. These LGMD2A antibodies are widely used in Western Blot experiments, among other applications.
