Anti-BWD antibodies are protein reagents that detect specific antigens. The BWD antigen is another term for the human protein SMU1 DNA replication regulator and spliceosomal factor, encoded by the SMU1 gene. The protein is known to be involved in pre-mRNA splicing as a component of the spliceosome. Canonically, it has an amino acid length of 513 residues and a mass of 57.5 kilodaltons. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus and cytoplasm and it is widely expressed in many tissue types. The BWD protein is a member of the WD repeat SMU1 protein family. Other alias names for BWD include fSAP57 and WD40 repeat-containing protein SMU1.
