Anti-ATG18A antibodies are used in antigen-specific immunodetection in biological samples. The target ATG18A is a known alias name of the protein WD repeat domain, phosphoinositide interacting 1, encoded by the WIPI1 gene in humans. This 446-amino acid residue protein is a known component of the autophagy machinery that controls the major intracellular degradation process by which cytoplasmic materials are packaged into autophagosomes and delivered to lysosomes for degradation. It is localized to the membrane, cytoplasmic vesicles, Golgi, and cytoplasm of the cell. In terms of tissue expression, it is ubiquitously expressed across many tissue types. Other synonyms for ATG18A include ATG18 and ATG18.
