Anti-B and T lymphocyte associated antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BTLA in humans. The gene may also be known as CD272, BTLA1, B- and T-lymphocyte attenuator, and B- and T-lymphocyte-associated protein. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 32.8 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
