Anti-MDM4 antibodies are used in the immunodetection of the protein MDM4 regulator of p53. In humans, the canonical protein has a reported length of 490 amino acid residues and a mass of 54.9 kDa. Its subcellular localization is in the nucleus. Alternative splicing is reported to yield 5 different isoforms for this protein. It is reported to be expressed in all tissues tested with high levels in thymus. A member of the MDM2/MDM4 protein family, it is known to be involved with the cellular response to hypoxia and DNA damage pathways. Post-translational modifications have been described, including ubiquitination and phosphorylation. Synonyms for this target antigen include HDMX, MDMX, MRP1, protein Mdm4, MDM4, p53 regulator, and BMFS6.
