Anti-C-X-C motif chemokine ligand 8 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene CXCL8 in humans. The gene may also be known as IL8, IL-8, GCP1, GCP-1, LECT, and interleukin-8. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 11.1 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, canine, porcine and monkey orthologs may also be found.
