Anti-BRCA1 DNA repair associated antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BRCA1 in humans. The gene may also be known as BRCAI, IRIS, PSCP, RNF53, breast cancer type 1 susceptibility protein, and BRCC1. Structurally, the protein is reported to be 207.7 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, plant, fly, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
