Anti-NOS antibodies enable researchers to detect and measure the NOS antigen in biological samples. This target is a reported synonym of the NOS2 gene, which encodes nitric oxide synthase 2. This protein is known to function in the cellular response to lipopolysaccharides and inflammatory response pathways, among other biological roles. The human version of NOS has a canonical amino acid length of 1153 residues and a protein mass of 131.1 kilodaltons, although 2 isoforms have been identified. It is reported to be localized in the cytoplasm of cells and notably expressed in the rectum, nasopharynx, colon, and appendix. NOS is a member of the NOS protein family.
