Anti-Periostin antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene POSTN in humans. The Periostin protein has an expected mass of 93.3 kDa, but there are 7 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as Osteoblast Specific Factor 2, OSF-2, OSF2, PDLPOSTN, PN, and osteoblast specific factor 2 (fasciclin I-like). Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
