Anti-Galectin 8 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene LGALS8 in humans. The Galectin 8 protein has an expected mass of 35.8 kDa, but there are 2 reported isoforms. The protein may also be known as lectin, galactoside binding soluble 8, Lgals-8, GAL8, Gal-8, PCTA-1, and Po66 carbohydrate binding protein. Variants of this antigen may also be found in other species, including canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat.
