Anti-BRCA1 associated protein 1 antibodies are directed against the protein encoded by the gene BAP1 in humans. The gene may also be known as UCHL2, HUCEP-13, hucep-6, ubiquitin carboxyl-terminal hydrolase BAP1, and BRCA1 associated protein-1 (ubiquitin carboxy-terminal hydrolase). Structurally, the protein is reported to be 80.4 kilodaltons in mass. Based on gene name, plant, canine, porcine, monkey, mouse and rat orthologs may also be found.
